Sunlight, weather, pollution, and many
other factors can significantly alter the
characteristics of paint
as vehicles age.
Further complicating things, the impact of
these elements car vary at different locations on the same
vehicle.
Hoods and trunks, for example, may fade
faster than side panels because of more direct rather
than angular exposure to the sun. These variances in fading
make it difficult to blend a new or repaired part with the
rest of the vehicle's finish.
One solution is to repaint the
entire vehicle.
Unfortunately, there are some significant
disadvantages to refinishing the entire car. A total paint job may be cost-prohibitive
for older vehicles. Secondly, many car shoppers fear that a
vehicle that has been
totally repainted may have been involved in a serious
collision. If the fading variations are subtle, the rest of the
vehicle may not even need to be repainted.
These situations present a dilemma for auto dealers
and car owners. They can leave the unsightly defects
untouched. They can spend a lot of money to
repaint the entire vehicle. Or they can repair the defects
and risk having the repairs stick out like a sore thumb - in
which case the medicine may be worse than the disease.
Precision Touch-Up was created specifically
for this
type of dilemma. |
